The American Killing Fields

Hello fellow zobopians.  [No exclamation point.]  I’m nowadays under the impression that the Un-United States of America are becoming a modern day killing fields.  Black people are getting shot and killed on any given day.  Police unions and lawyers are making it illegal to video record police doing their job we, taxpayers, are paying for.

Video recordings don’t seem to be a deterrent!  Police and “stand your ground” freaks can kill with impunity!  The whole world is watching?  What difference does it make?  Who watches the watchers?  Apparently we can’t!

I See You Evil Eye, Eye Live!

Hello fellow zopbopians!  I’ve been reading book on world folklore.  [Full title: Interpreting Folklore by Alan Dundes.]  There’s this section on the folklore of the ‘Evil Eye‘.  It’s funny and sometimes vulgar at best.  The author claims ‘blue’ evil eye’s are considered evil.  And the best way to defeat an evil eye is by another evil eye.  It’s relates to the principle of ‘like against like’.  I always thought you can’t fight fire with fire but I guess you can fight evil eye with evil eye.  Hmm-m…that’s something to consider in the future.

Trigger Warning: There are no Safe Spaces

Trigger Warning

Hello fellow zobopians!  It’s me again.  Today’s rant is all about “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces“.  Do we as a society need trigger warning labels like the recording industry?  Here’s a trigger warning for you…”Buyer Beware”.  I think that saying is from ancient Roman times.  So that makes it a 2000 year old warning.  So there…you’ve been warned!

Today’s coddled young people want to up-end the status quo with their street-based agitation.  But in order to do that they must make society uncomfortable to bring about change but yet these coddled street-based agitators, (a.k.a. whiny crybabies), don’t like being made uncomfortable on college campuses and other real world places, so they demand “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces”.  Does anyone besides me see the irony and/or hypocrisy here?

To bring this into perspective from the school of Chicago boy economics…recently the University of Chicago issued a statement telling incoming freshmen it won’t support “Trigger Warnings” or “Safe Spaces”.

Geoffrey Stone, law professor and past provost at the U. of C. said, “The right thing to do is empower the students, help them understand how to fight, combat and respond, not to insulate them from things they will have to face later.”

I totally agree with this statement.  You can’t change the world by being a over-sensitive, coddled crybaby.

All Aboard The Trump Train

Oh, boy!  Hello fellow zobopians!  I’m sure you all know by now that Donald Trump is steaming toward the Republican nominee for the GOP.  But as it’s being projected, the Grand ‘Ol Party ain’t too grand about Donald Trump.  The GOP can’t seem to stop the train wreck of Mr. Trump.  Mr. Trump invites racist’s, sexist’s and homophobes to join the party train.  Nope, too late…the proverbial train has left the station.

Have you all seen the, (class war), movie called “Snowpiercer”?  It’s about a post-apocalyptic ice age that forces humanity’s last survivors to get aboard a globe-spanning supertrain. One man (Chris Evans) risk’s everything to lead a revolt for control of the engine and the future of the world.

snowpiercer

There are currently Republicans who don’t want to vote for Donald Trump but don’t want Hillary Clinton either.  What to do, what to do?  If conservatives thought that Ted Cruz was their only hope, then the GOP is gonna end up like the Death Star, (from Star Wars)…Boom!

In my opinion, I hope America won’t end up like the scenario of ‘Snowpiercer’.  But I think the party train of the USA is pretty much over now…

Two Tales Of One World

Hello fellow zobopians!  Man, do I have a case of writers block.  What do I write about?  What can I rant about this time?  It’s 2016 and it’s yet another presidential election cycle and an alleged fascist is running for President of these ‘segregated’ United States!

…and there are still Black people dying in the streets every day – many of them unarmed and at the hands of the police.

…and then, there are still Black people dying in the streets every day – many of them unarmed and at the hands of other Black people.

Black people killed by the police get exposed by the light of day while Blacks killed by other Blacks get shrugged under the rug.

SILENCE STILL EQUALS DEATH!

Dear Black College Students

Hello world zobopians!  And you too college students.  Do I need to issue a disclaimer for sensitive Black readers?  I mean come on…have more ego strength will you…you whiny, crybabies!  Sticks and stones may break my bones but white micro-aggression can never hurt me.

Wake up people!  The social activist Bayard Rustin said the statement, below, February 13, 1969 for the New York Amsterdam News:

“For if we are to face the truth, however painful this may be, we must recognize that Black people have been brutalized in the past by inferior segregated education and economic deprivation to the point where they have been put at a disadvantage with whites.  Consequently, when they are placed in a difficult competitive situation, such as obtains at predominantly white universities, their immediate impulse is to retreat into themselves and establish a Black [studies] curriculum with separate – and lower- standards by which their performance shall be judged.”

This was written back then in 1969 and look at what’s happening on college campuses recently.  Has anything changed?  Can micro-aggression kill anybody?  This is why nobody comes to the Black community for help…we can’t seem to handle the psychological stress!  It’s really disappointing!

Police Brutality-Then & Now

Hello fellow zobopians! Happy New Year if I didn’t say that last time. Wow…2015 was the year of Police Brutality. I wonder what 2016 will bring America. Police brutality seems to be the bane of America’s existence. Bayard Rustin, a citizen of the Civil Rights movement, once wrote about police brutality back in the 1960’s [Los Angeles Watts area]:

“Police brutality must be stopped! We must everywhere be part of the cry for civilian review boards, not in the naive belief that they are a panacea but in the conviction that police conduct is not the exclusive responsibility of commissions and politicians. Police must be answerable to the citizenry they presumably protect, and if they have been educated to any other concept of their role, now is the time to reeducate them.” Mr. Rustin wrote this back before I was born!

Mr Rustin also wrote:
“We must create a situation in which backlashers are politically neutralized by having to pay too high a price for the exercise of racist impulses.”

History truly has a way of repeating itself.

Until neXt time…

Hello fellow world zobopians! I was reading the current issue of Esquire magazine for October 2015, the 1000th issue. This is just something that inspired the following post. [If you’re wondering, the article I was reading was about Ernest Hemingway.]

[My mind works in mysterious ways!]

Blackness in America is just something that grows big enough to be taken apart and sold for pieces. Cultural appropriation is just another industry to feed and feed off of. Blackness is a ‘brand’ with a shelf life. This is why I never worship Blackness. Neither should you. After you buy, you just end up throwing away. BUYER BEWARE!

America: Communist Little Helper

Back again today for another thought stream.  Wake up world zobopians!

America is [and have always been] helping Communist around the world.  [Soviet Russia, Vietnam, China, plus most other Marxist regimes.]  The American government have been moving heaven and earth to bring more trade [and trade secrets] to Communist China.  [It won’t end with IBM selling off its computer division to become Lenovo in China.]  Remember when Yahoo and Cisco tried to sell technology to prop-up the communist status quo?  Rupert Murdoch [FOX Corp] has been doing that for years so he could sell TV to Chinese viewers.  But to do that you have to give in to the communist rules.  What?

Even merchants like Wal-Mart are helping too.  They out-source manufacturing jobs and other forms of loss-of-jobs only to help keep these communist regimes in power.  Russian communist revolutionaries long ago gladly took Capitalist money.  That means the Cold War was a joke.

Just resently Lenovo was caught and accused of putting adware on their laptop computers.  My opinion is, China will succeed where V.I. Lenin’s Soviet Russia failed.

War On Poverty Is Phony Pretense

Hello fellow world zobopians!  I haven’t posted in a while because I didn’t think I had anything important to say…until now.

The War on Poverty is a War on Poor People

The war on poverty never intended to be a war at all.  It was mostly a painfully timid and overly self-conscious assault on the consequences of human misery.  The war on poverty was [and probably still is] a vehicle for the perpetuation of the view that poverty was traceable to individual shortcomings on the part of poor people.  People are poor because they have no money or power to negotiate with.

When the poor eat the rich, what will rich people taste like?
