Looking For America? Corporate America Isn’t Looking For You.

Hello fellow zobopians! Long time no see, you know how I be. After the election of *President* Trump, I’ve been at a loss of words. Now that we all know what a “white backlash” looks and feels like, I guess I have some thoughts on the subject now.

Most white working class Americans voted for Donald “art of the deal” Trump because well, they think he’s actually good at the art of the deal. Just look at how *President* Trump has been acting. Corporate-minded fools like Trump think they can just treat government like a business.  You can’t!  In government there’s going to be push-back when you fire someone because of a lack of loyalty. But here’s the thing. You can’t expect cult of personality loyalty in government! That would be authoritarianism! But that’s what the white working class-less Americans got. And now all these white working class Americans are yelling and crying for their Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare plans. They just didn’t like that it was called “Obamacare”. Obamacare was just a nickname for the ACA. Same thing! Duh?

Looking for America – [art saves lives]

I’m sure most citizens also voted for Trump because they think he’s “going to bring jobs back”.  Right.  I guess these foolish Americans also think segregation is going to come back too.  [Don’t we already have that, again?]  Let me just state this loud and clear, “jobs are not coming back to America!”  Corporate America isn’t looking for you Americans!  This is why they want (cheap labor) immigrants.  Of course the U.S. companies claim they can’t find employees.  You can read their excuse.  [They ain’t looking for you fool!]  The corporate bosses don’t want you.  They don’t want to pay to train/re-train you.  Building a wall or stopping people from certain countries won’t stop corporate America from getting the cheap labor it wants.

Get back to work training your replacement!

I guess it’s obvious now that the Almighty Globalization didn’t raise everyone’s boats.  It only lowered everyone’s wages.  U.S. business gets at least half the blame for all of this.  That means the other half of the blame falls on the rest of us for not adapting to the Almighty Third-Wave Economy.  Read that report here.

As you can see I’ve been thinking about this a long now.  It took me this long to finally get it out on blog.  I hope enough people read this because corporate America is looking.  Until neXt time…

Mini-Wage

Happy New Year fellow zobopians!  It took me some time to get my blogging juices flowing for 2015.  And the best I can do is a photo opportunity.  Anything for the topic of the minimum wage for the working poor.  Let’s face it, anybody working at minimum wage is poor. That’s the way the “powers that be” want it.

“Why are you telling me your secrets?”

Hello fellow zobopians! America has a lot secrets it doesn’t tell its Black citizens. Reading novels by Black authors can give a guy lots of insight to my country of USA. Reading is fundaMENTAL. I’m currently reading a novel titled, ‘Then Man Who Cried I Am’ by John A. Williams. Here’s an excerpt to give you an idea of how America may really be:

“It must be pretty awful for a white man to learn that one of the things wrong with this society is that it is not based on dollars directly or alone, but dollars denied men who are Black so dollars can go into the pockets of men who are white. It must make white men ponder a kind of weakness that will make them deny work to Black men so that work can be done by who are white. How it must anger them to know finally that we know they deny women who are white to Black men, while they have taken Black women at will for generations.” [From part 6 of the book.]

Africa Did Not Protect Us

…will she in the future?

Greetings fellow zobopians! Still reading my copy of a Frantz Fanon book. Reading Fanons’ ‘Wretched of the Earth’ will get one to thinking. Especially this golden nugget of thought:

The continent of Africa was supposed to protect its people from the hostile environment of colonialism and slavery. EPIC FAILURE! Instead, Mother Africa gave free rein to its malevolent instincts; the selling of humans to other humans with ships.

Meanwhile, the colonial mother only protected the African from itself, from its ego, its physiology, its biology, and its ontological misfortune. Colonialism only protected its own social group, (the European), and its own profit.

If Mother Africa can not or will not provide and protect its own citizens, then Africa doesn’t deserve them or itself. Continent Africa should read Frantz Fanons’ ‘Wretched of the Earth’. It could use the lesson for its own future. As for the people of the African Diaspora in the Western hemisphere…that’s another story.

Thanks for reading…until neXt time…

What American Dream?

Leave a comment

Hello fellow zobopians! You have dreams of success right? You could become President of the country or president of a company. In a land of “color prejudice”*, that might not ever happen. So, the question for today, as was in 1965, is “Has the American Dream been achieved at the expense of the American Negro? Of course today we don’t use the term “negro” anymore.

The video below is from a February 18, 1965 debate at Cambridge University between conservative William F. Buckley Jr. and author James Baldwin.

*I am no longer going to use the term “racism” anymore if I can help it. I will use the proper phrase ‘color prejudice’. There is no such thing as RACE. But there is color prejudice!

Lies, Lies, Lies! They’re Gonna Get You!

Hi there fellow zobopians!  The debate about the Minimum Wage is full of lies.

Lie #1) Minimum wage pulls workers out of poverty. Most employees are getting few, if any, company-sponsored benefits like healthcare or paid time off  Most workers are getting government benefits.

Lie #2) Minimum wage will kill jobs.  Most profits low-wage labor go toward the salaries and bonuses of corporate executives.

Lie #3) Increasing minimum wage will impact small businesses.  If or when wages go up, small businesses won’t feel the impact now, but it could change in the far future.

Lie #4) Most minimum wage workers are teenagers.  Most workers are working women over the age of 20, usually the head of her family.

Don’t You Want My Money?

Leave a comment

I understand businesses have the right to refuse service to people. But who wants to leave money on the table? I remember the time when Denny’s restaurant refused service to Black Americans, (circa 1990’s). I guess Denny’s didn’t need the money. Hey, I say the hell with them then; save your money. But really, who leaves money on the table on purpose. During the era of Jim Crow, Black American’s were refused service because of their skin color. See, I think businesses want the money but they just don’t want to have to service, or deal with, the people they don’t like. I guess they think they can get money for nothing. (My opinion!)

As I watch the national news, the state of Arizona (SB1062) wants the option of being able to refuse service to people they obviously don’t like; gays & lesbians, (a.k.a. LGTB). Economically speaking, that’s leaving money on the table. Arizona state is going to lose a lot of money when citizens and businesses boycott the state in protest. I’m sure there was a time in America when Mexicans and other Latinos were refused service as well. Straight white people aren’t the only one’s with money to spend. I read Black economists brag about how Black Americans are spending in excess of $900 Billion a year. $900 Billion! But that’s not what’s at stake here. I don’t know if the LGTB segment of society represents $900 Billion. Either way, that’s a lot of money being left on the table just because you may not like somebody’s skin color or sexual orientation.

The irony is, there are segments of American society that want money for social services and other entitlements. Unfortunately many people don’t get the money they need, but they may have money to spend. States, like Arizona, and other businesses in the USA who don’t want money from certain people, I say avoid them and spend your money somewhere else. Hopefully these businesses aren’t the only game in town so you can get what you need from somewhere else.

MO’ money, MO’ problems! I didn’t think trying to spend money would be a problem. Don’t you want my money America? Arizona? Anyone? If your greedy ass want my money, you are going to have to deal with ME! Until that day, I’ll be spend thrift.

Somehow in 1979, (yes, I’m showing my age), I missed this piece of silly-ness.  Well, now we all get to see it! Whoever thought you could learn about capitalism from a fowl. Milton Friedman must be proud.

McMinimum Wage

Sample Monthly Budget

The McDonald’s Corporation recently came out with a Sample Monthly Budget for McDonald’s employees. The first two-line items tells the employee to keep the first job and get a second job. I’m surprised McDonald’s Corp. didn’t tell its employees to join the underground (black market) economy. *dripping with sarcasm* When it comes to Monthly Expenses, there’s no expenses for food! *snap* That’s right…they work for McDonald’s. *more sarcasm* They can just eat fast food until their livers explode and die!

Corporate America doesn’t want to raise the minimum wage so employees can live on one job; they want to keep wages low so you’ll have to work two jobs. I guess this is as close to corporate Truth Telling we’re going to get.

No Child Left Behind
This effort actually leaves children behind;
By pushing students out of education;
With less funding for schools;
Which leads to no educational opportunities.
Poor and minority students are being incarcerated at alarming rates.

Community colleges might be next on the chopping block for reformation and privatization efforts.
