Looking For America? Corporate America Isn’t Looking For You.

Hello fellow zobopians! Long time no see, you know how I be. After the election of *President* Trump, I’ve been at a loss of words. Now that we all know what a “white backlash” looks and feels like, I guess I have some thoughts on the subject now.

Most white working class Americans voted for Donald “art of the deal” Trump because well, they think he’s actually good at the art of the deal. Just look at how *President* Trump has been acting. Corporate-minded fools like Trump think they can just treat government like a business.  You can’t!  In government there’s going to be push-back when you fire someone because of a lack of loyalty. But here’s the thing. You can’t expect cult of personality loyalty in government! That would be authoritarianism! But that’s what the white working class-less Americans got. And now all these white working class Americans are yelling and crying for their Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare plans. They just didn’t like that it was called “Obamacare”. Obamacare was just a nickname for the ACA. Same thing! Duh?

Looking for America – [art saves lives]

I’m sure most citizens also voted for Trump because they think he’s “going to bring jobs back”.  Right.  I guess these foolish Americans also think segregation is going to come back too.  [Don’t we already have that, again?]  Let me just state this loud and clear, “jobs are not coming back to America!”  Corporate America isn’t looking for you Americans!  This is why they want (cheap labor) immigrants.  Of course the U.S. companies claim they can’t find employees.  You can read their excuse.  [They ain’t looking for you fool!]  The corporate bosses don’t want you.  They don’t want to pay to train/re-train you.  Building a wall or stopping people from certain countries won’t stop corporate America from getting the cheap labor it wants.

I guess it’s obvious now that the Almighty Globalization didn’t raise everyone’s boats.  It only lowered everyone’s wages.  U.S. business gets at least half the blame for all of this.  That means the other half of the blame falls on the rest of us for not adapting to the Almighty Third-Wave Economy.  Read that report here.

As you can see I’ve been thinking about this a long now.  It took me this long to finally get it out on blog.  I hope enough people read this because corporate America is looking.  Until neXt time…

Hello fellow zobopians! It’s time for some observational humor. I spend most of my time on my Twitter account. 🙂 But I still think about other stuff, like…has anyone ever noticed that all the NBC Tonight Show, (permanent), guest hosts first names begin with the letter “J”? Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon.  That’s what I was thinking about today!

Mini-Wage

Happy New Year fellow zobopians!  It took me some time to get my blogging juices flowing for 2015.  And the best I can do is a photo opportunity.  Anything for the topic of the minimum wage for the working poor.  Let’s face it, anybody working at minimum wage is poor. That’s the way the “powers that be” want it.

Lies, Lies, Lies! They’re Gonna Get You!

Hi there fellow zobopians!  The debate about the Minimum Wage is full of lies.

Lie #1) Minimum wage pulls workers out of poverty. Most employees are getting few, if any, company-sponsored benefits like healthcare or paid time off  Most workers are getting government benefits.

Lie #2) Minimum wage will kill jobs.  Most profits low-wage labor go toward the salaries and bonuses of corporate executives.

Lie #3) Increasing minimum wage will impact small businesses.  If or when wages go up, small businesses won’t feel the impact now, but it could change in the far future.

Lie #4) Most minimum wage workers are teenagers.  Most workers are working women over the age of 20, usually the head of her family.

Sham Chicago

Hello fellow zobopians! Time for a citizens political rant. I’m on a roll with rants this month, aren’t I? (That might be bad English.) Anyway…

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel gets to spend $55 million in property taxes for a swanky new Marriott hotel in the South Loop. Meanwhile…Chicago citizens might have to pay higher property taxes to finance pension funds for public employees. What the hell am I missing? Chicago citizens are getting fleeced and ripped-off when it comes to any kind of taxes! Taxes and higher fees and we have nothing to show for it! Except potholes and falling bridge overpasses.

And on top of all that, Illinois companies get tax breaks and public subsidies. No jobs or business expansion to show for it. NOTHING. TO. SHOW. FOR! What a SHAM!

Bossy @ss B*tch

…and Dumb too! Hello fellow zobopians, let me explain myself. I don’t normally use my blog as a rant platform, but today…well…

As I was walking down the street going home Monday afternoon I was approached by a young woman walking in the opposite direction. As she was getting close to me she calls out to me to buy her a soda pop from a gas station at the corner I was just approaching. (It was right there!). I asked/said to her, “Why can’t you get it yourself?” As I’m asking her this, she’s pulling out her money to give to me. Then she informs me the owner or station clerk wouldn’t let her in the establishment anymore. Huh?

Now, let’s just slow down a minute here, ‘cause I’m about to pull out my RANT-CARD**. (I’ve had time to calm down since this happened.) Thus the name of this blog post: [Dumb] Bossy @ss B*tch! First of all, I won’t allow anyone to BOSS me around on the streets of Chicago. [Dumb] Bossy @ss B*tch! Second, why is this young woman attempting to spend what little money she has at a store that obviously doesn’t want her? [Dumb] Bossy @ss B*tch! I just came from a dollar store two blocks away! She could’ve walked her lazy @ss self to the dollar store to buy her much needed soda pop. [Dumb] Bossy @ss B*tch!

Dumb @ss people never cease to amaze me. If a business doesn’t want YOU in there establishment, then spend your money elsewhere! You don’t try to get someone else you don’t know to spend YOUR money at a business that doesn’t want you or your money. What the hell am I missing? If I were a sleaze-ball, I could’ve snatched her money and ran like hell but on the rough streets of Chicago, you think twice about that. You don’t harass someone on the street with your economic stupidity. I almost gave this young woman my piece of mind but on the rough streets of Chicago, you think twice about that. Bossy @ss B*tch! And dumb too!

I’m all ranted out! I have nothing else to say…until next time…

It Takes Ideas To Get Ideas

Hello fellow zobopians! As part of my New Direction for 2014 I’ve been reading part of an old book of my father’s. The below excerpts are really just notes to myself for mental reference. “It takes ideas to get ideas.” [page 220] How the heck does one become ‘more’ creative?

Excerpts from the book “How To Become More Creative”, by Alex F. Osborn, L.H.D. © 1964

JOB HUNTING
Calls for creative idea-hunting

Instead of putting ourselves into the employer’s shoes, too many of us ask him/her to put themselves into ours.

#Question : What quality or talent have you demonstrated that makes you think you could help our company earn more money?

How to go after a new job :
1. Offer a service instead of asking for a position.
2. Appeal to the self-interest of your prospective employer.
3. Be specific as to the job you want, and as to your qualifications.
4. Be different, and still be sincere.

We also need imagination to help us set our job-seeking sights.

When applying or going to a job interview, do not take family members or friends with you. To be shepherded makes you look weak and uncertain of yourself.

The higher you aim, the more creative your preparation must be.

As part of the preparation for interviews, you should line up the right references. What if you have none?
Experience carries far more weight than references. If you went all out with the creative preparation we would see to it that you trained yourself in advance to make an employer eager for your services

A job-seeking interview is a selling, (of yourself), interview.

Part of your strategy you should ask yourself “What if?” Foresee contingencies, so the better you can meet them. You should know by now that during an interview you will be expected to ask questions. If not, you will seem unprepared and slow-minded.

If you want to get the job you want: Be ready to show the employer exactly how they can benefit from your services beyond the arbitrary requirements they set up in the job posting.

I read recently, on a website, about an unemployed older American woman, [Wessita McKinley of Capitol Heights], and she said, “If you’re not creative in this economy, you’re going to be squashed.” Well, I need to get more creative then!  #HowToGet #DreamJob

Don’t You Want My Money?

I understand businesses have the right to refuse service to people. But who wants to leave money on the table? I remember the time when Denny’s restaurant refused service to Black Americans, (circa 1990’s). I guess Denny’s didn’t need the money. Hey, I say the hell with them then; save your money. But really, who leaves money on the table on purpose. During the era of Jim Crow, Black American’s were refused service because of their skin color. See, I think businesses want the money but they just don’t want to have to service, or deal with, the people they don’t like. I guess they think they can get money for nothing. (My opinion!)

As I watch the national news, the state of Arizona (SB1062) wants the option of being able to refuse service to people they obviously don’t like; gays & lesbians, (a.k.a. LGTB). Economically speaking, that’s leaving money on the table. Arizona state is going to lose a lot of money when citizens and businesses boycott the state in protest. I’m sure there was a time in America when Mexicans and other Latinos were refused service as well. Straight white people aren’t the only one’s with money to spend. I read Black economists brag about how Black Americans are spending in excess of $900 Billion a year. $900 Billion! But that’s not what’s at stake here. I don’t know if the LGTB segment of society represents $900 Billion. Either way, that’s a lot of money being left on the table just because you may not like somebody’s skin color or sexual orientation.

The irony is, there are segments of American society that want money for social services and other entitlements. Unfortunately many people don’t get the money they need, but they may have money to spend. States, like Arizona, and other businesses in the USA who don’t want money from certain people, I say avoid them and spend your money somewhere else. Hopefully these businesses aren’t the only game in town so you can get what you need from somewhere else.

MO’ money, MO’ problems! I didn’t think trying to spend money would be a problem. Don’t you want my money America? Arizona? Anyone? If your greedy ass want my money, you are going to have to deal with ME! Until that day, I’ll be spend thrift.
