“…one day after snuggling in your security blanket and sucking your thumb in your Safe Space, you’ll wake up and realize…you have no more freedom! Time to wake people!”
Hello fellow zobopians! It’s me again. Today’s rant is all about “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces“. Do we as a society need trigger warning labels like the recording industry? Here’s a trigger warning for you…”Buyer Beware”. I think that saying is from ancient Roman times. So that makes it a 2000 year old warning. So there…you’ve been warned!
Today’s coddled young people want to up-end the status quo with their street-based agitation. But in order to do that they must make society uncomfortable to bring about change but yet these coddled street-based agitators, (a.k.a. whiny crybabies), don’t like being made uncomfortable on college campuses and other real world places, so they demand “trigger warnings” and “safe spaces”. Does anyone besides me see the irony and/or hypocrisy here?
To bring this into perspective from the school of Chicago boy economics…recently the University of Chicago issued a statement telling incoming freshmen it won’t support “Trigger Warnings” or “Safe Spaces”.
Geoffrey Stone, law professor and past provost at the U. of C. said, “The right thing to do is empower the students, help them understand how to fight, combat and respond, not to insulate them from things they will have to face later.”
I totally agree with this statement. You can’t change the world by being a over-sensitive, coddled crybaby.
Until neXt time…
