Hello fellow zobopians! I’ve been re-blogging other people’s posts because I didn’t quite have anything to say at the time. You would think I’d have an opinion about something since there’s always a crisis going on in the world and America. (I’ve been gathering my thoughts.)

If it’s not white cops gunning down Black people, then it’s Black-on-Black crime/violence that nobody cares about. Then comes along Rachel Dolezal whose been ‘passing’ for Black for so many years. The Dolezal situation leads people to discuss ‘White Privilege’ and ‘White Cultural Appropriation’; which seems to me like two sides of the same coin. You have to have privilege to appropriate other people’s culture, right?

Now before I can keep up, it’s a lone white gunman, (who had so much racial contempt for “all” Black people), exterminating nine defenseless Black individuals in a church. This violent act is evil enough as it is.
What gets me is how people, (Black and white), attempt to connect this bloody act to a southern Confederate battle flag?  Which came first: white racial contempt for Black people or the battle flag?

I’ve never been a fan of the Confederate battle flag.  I know what it represents.  Today’s southern white society try to convince everybody that the Confederate flag represents a ‘New South’.  And yet the flag hasn’t changed since its inception from the ‘Old South’ in the year 1861.  (The Hate is the Heritage!)

Flags change over time to represent new things and ideals.  The Germans used the Nazi swastika from 1933 to 1945.  The Nazi flag was never the original German flag and we should all hope it never flies again.

Even the Japanese had to change their flag by getting rid of the “rising sun with rays” to indicate a new direction for the country.

The United States flag has changed over time too; but that’s because America has changed a lot since 1777, if anyone has noticed.  The Confederate battle flag represented a secession government.  (Remember: the Old South)

The USA already has a national flag; it’s the 50-star United States flag.  It’s a flag of union.  (That includes you south!)  The Confederate battle flag is a symbol of seceding from the union because white ancestors didn’t believe in the Republican ideal of being ‘slave-free’.  (We all know slavery is a touchy subject.)  If today’s whites insist that “their” red stars and bars doesn’t represent HATE for Black people, then it’s time for them to ditch these colors for the ones we already have…The RED, WHITE and BLUE!
