Chains That Bind

I refuse, absolutely, to speak from the point of view of the victim. The victim can have no point of view for precisely so long as he thinks of himself as a victim. The testimony of the victim as victim corroborates, simply, the reality of the chains that bind him — confirms, and, as it were consoles the jailer.”

A genuine revolutionof values means in the final analysis that our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional.  Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies.”– Martin Luther King, Jr.

Charlie Hebdo And Playing With Fire

Up until yesterday I never heard of Charlie Hebdo. Who or what is it? Well, the Muslim world sure have heard of it and they don’t like it. As always and right on cue the Muslims get touchy and over-reactive about their savior Muhammad. I assume this all started with the video titled, “Innocence of Muslims”. And it’s been downhill since.

Voltaire once said that religions are subjected to criticism and ridicule. I guess Muslims don’t get that. If Muslims think they can use fear and intimidation to get their way, then they are sadly mistaken! This fear and violence will only take us straight to the Dark Side.

Happy Birthday Occupy Movement

The Occupy Wall Street/Movement is 1 year old. 🙂
The people are still 99%. 😦

A saying is going around that the Occupy Movement has a problem of transitioning into a new strategy.

Now we have Mitt Romney on video saying that 47% of American people don’t pay federal income taxes. And yet, the Tax Policy Center estimates that 4,000 households with incomes over $1 million ended up with zero federal income tax liability in 2011. Fact check at CNN Money right here!

College students are in debt and homeowners are under “water” with their homes! Hey!… Can debt start an American Revolution?  Happy birthday Occupy!

The 3 R’s – Romney, Ryan & Rahm

DRAMATIS PERSONAE
Mitt Romney (Republican Presidential nominee)
Paul Ryan (Republican Vice-Presidential nominee)
Rahm Emanuel (Chicago Democrat Mayor)

Going to school is supposed to be about the three R’s : Reading, W’riting and A’rithmetic. Not Romney, Ryan and Rahm!

Romney, Ryan

Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan

Rahm Emanuel

Rahm Emanuel

The Los Angeles Times stated, “Mitt Romney is in agreement with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel…”

ABC News stated, “Paul Ryan [said] ‘We stand with Mayor Rahm Emanuel’ in his fight with Chicago’s teachers”

They have an agenda – to privatize Chicago Public Schools and help their business partners and the millionaires who donate to both their election campaigns make a profit at the expense of Chicago children. Their “education reform” really means:

  • SUPPORT FOR MASSIVE SCHOOL CLOSING, TARGETING BLACK, LATINO AND LOW INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS.
  • SUPPORT FOR POLICIES THAT WOULD REMOVE EXPERIENCED EDUCATORS AND CONTINUE THE LOSS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN TEACHERS SERVING THE NEIGHBORHOODS.
  • PUSHING “TEACHER EVALUATION” SCHEMES THAT CONTINUE TO TURN THE SCHOOLS INTO TESTING FACTORIES INSTEAD OF PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY TEACHING, ARTS, MUSIC AND WORLD LANGUAGE.
  • LARGER CLASS SIZES, FURTHER TAKING ATTENTION AWAY FROM EACH OF THE STUDENTS.

The teachers are standing with the students and the communities of Chicago. Together, they’re fighting for quality public education for all the students in every neighborhood. They’re standing up against the racism that means starving schools in Chicago’s Black and Latino neighborhoods.

Chicago Teachers Strike

There hasn’t been a teacher’s strike in Chicago since 1987. The former Mayor Richard Daley always bought off the Chicago teachers so there wouldn’t be a strike. But all things come to an end with the current Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Even though Mayor Richard Daley sold off the Chicago Public Schools piece-by-piece to private school organizations, (charter schools), he made sure there wasn’t any disruption in the school year.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel is different. He has been called a bully by the Chicago Teachers Union President, Karen Lewis.

“Mayor Rahm Emanuel once said ‘f*ck you’ to Ms. Lewis”

Putting that all aside, what about the school students? This school strike will only discourage a lot of students who aren’t inspired to go to school anyway. Strike or no strike they will probably drop out of school anyway! People in Chicago need to control their schools or someone else will!

Good-bye schools- -good-bye democracy!

It’s ironic this strike happened during the week of the September 11 anniversary.

Bain Capital

Hypocrite Republicans call President Obama a Socialist while they outsource/sell-out jobs to Communist China! (Are you listening Bain Capital?) American business gives away jobs to Commies and they steal our technology from under our noses which will ensure that the USA will not be able to compete.

When will Americans wake up to this?
